The Strand is the genius child of a couple of classic film lovers with a grand sense of community spirit. The Strand had been closed for decades, but with vision, several years of inspired work, and the generous support of supporters and volunteers, the Strand has risen like the Phoenix from the ashes to become the best reason to be downtown in Vicksburg at night. Classic films, local theatrical performances, filmed operas, and special events including an annual film festival attract a friendly, hip audience. Snacks, soft drinks, and wine in very attractive surroundings all contribute to a most pleasurable--and dare I say--urbane experience.

I saw Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde on Halloween and enjoyed it tremendously. I would definitely see another production at their theater.
We had a girls night to go see a friend in a play here, the theatre is small and cozy, which I love and often prefer when going to see a performance. They serve a small selection of wine, the seats are comfy and the people who run the Strand are friendly.
